Willow is a movie that I saw it when I was 12. It traumatised me in such a way I didn’t even remember it existed 6 years later. Since then I’ve come to rather like it despite its many, many flaws (terrible dialogue, plotholes and rather hit and miss special effects).
It has a lot of good things though: Warwick Davis, Val Kilmer’s hair, the pig that pulls a plow, some great landscapes and overall some very nice design and a great score.
(Even if just about every theme in it was taken from other peoples’ music)
The Brownies (the tiny chaps with the inexplicable Francophone accents) are like Ewoks in that they’re hilarious when you’re very young but more than a little grating for anyone who would consider himself a sensible adult.
Still seeing how I effed up my first attempt at a drawing, I resorted to doing a (somewhat) quick doodle of them. And I have to say I always did like that mouse hat.
What is the biggest shame though is that the film could have been so much more awesome. George Lucas had hired Moebius (!) to do the concept design for it and if they had actually made what he drew it would have looked like nothing else ever.
You can see some of those designs here: http://tellforward.blogspot.com/2010/05/willow-that-wasnt.html
